President's House Bed & Breakfast

The stately two-story home was built in 1939 for a local businessman Mays Osborne and his family. In 1966 the family gifted their spacious home to Wayland Baptist University to serve as the private residence of their presidents. Over the years, its historical integrity and charm have been maintained to perfection. Generations of local residents have admired the beautiful home referring to it as The Presidents House. When innkeepers Mike and Debra Melcher purchased the home, they felt it was appropriate to continue the presidential tradition for which it was known. If you are looking for a private peaceful retreat or the opportunity to meet and mingle with other guests, the President’s House is sure to meet all your expectations.

Gourmet Breakfasts

Breakfast is always served in the dining room, or weather permitting you might choose to have it on the patio. Breakfasts change daily and include fresh fruit, homemade muffins or breads, and a main course featuring an egg entrée, a breakfast meat such as bacon, sausage, or ham. French toast or pancakes are also a possible treat or the country boy in you might have a craving for biscuits and gravy. Whatever the case you won’t be disappointed. Our guests enjoy lively, stimulating conversation and making new friends around the breakfast table.

The Presidents House is located just 5 blocks from downtown in a quiet, residential neighborhood. It is located just 6 blocks from Wayland Baptist University, one of the main attractions in Plainview. The home is situated on a beautifully landscaped half acre lot. There are many shade trees and a large patio area to enjoy as well. You will find many inviting areas to relax, reflect and enjoy the serenity of your surroundings. Or, for the more active, enjoy a brisk walk through the neighborhood or the city park only a block away. The President’s House also features a large comfortable patio for your outdoor pleasure.

High-Quality Lodging and Accommodations

The President’s House features 3 large guest rooms with private baths and an elegant two room suite with a large his and her bath. All are appointed with high quality linens, fluffy towels, signature toiletries and luxurious spa robes. Each one is elegantly furnished with your comfort in mind. Each room has its own mini-frig stocked with complimentary water. There is also a basket of snacks in your room, again compliments of the house. For your enjoyment, books and games are provided as well as cable TV and alarm clocks. For those who need to stay connected, complimentary high-speed wireless Internet is provided.

Ample parking is available for all our guests with private off street parking. Take advantage of our meeting room if your business requires a group of your peers.
